Nasturtium Mitten

This is a design I have been tweaking for over a year, trying different types of middles for the main flower, changing the cuff, trying different color combinations. And I am off to try one more, a sunny yellow and rich navy blue. I call it “Nasturtium” and I think it will be a winner! Now if I can just overcome the imposter syndrome….

I started this shawl during our springtime trip to England.  Unlike most knitters, I love color work. As a teacher, I have been wracking my brain to come up with a happy medium project, something to indulge my love of color and deal with most knitters’ discomfort working with more than one color at a time and voila! I was ordering from Amazon and Barbara G. Walker’s Mosaic Knitting popped into my recommended list.

Well, duh, this is something I should have thought of before now, but hey, at least I am thinking!

I used two different versions of the same design, switching colors to create a positive/negative space dynamic.  The pattern uses Periwinkle Sheep Watercolors in Audrey Hepburn as the main color and Watercolors II in Sandstorm as the contrast color. It is being test knitted and should be up on Ravelry soon!
