8/19/17 Custom Fit #4  (1 – 4 pm)

We will start with a blocking demo.  Participants are welcome to bring their own sweater pieces to block (you will need to provide your own blocking boards and pins).  We will work swatches showing different types of seaming methods for vertical Stockinette, horizontal Stockinette, vertical Garter, and vertical to horizontal edges.

9/2/17 Custom Fit #5 (1 – 4 pm)

We will assemble class garments, pick up for button and neck bands, discuss washing and care of finished garments, keeping yarns for repairs, common problems (pills, thin areas, pulled strands).

 

10/28/17 Custom Fit #1 (1 – 4 pm)

Wonder what all the fuss is about Custom Fit?  How can this really work?  In this session, we will cover what is Custom Fit?  Why is it it useful?  Learn to to navigate the new Custom Fit website, including how to set up your own account and select from existing or make a custom pattern.  Learn how to take an accurate set of measurements, how to swatch and measure your swatch for Custom Fit.  Learn what patterns are available ready-to-go and what is needed to make your own pattern.  At the end of this session , each participant will have a full set of their custom measurements and be able to select a skein of yarn to use to make at least one swatch with the goal of making a Custom Fit sweater.

11/11/17 Custom Fit #2 (1 – 4 pm)

In this session, we will cover how to measure stitch and row counts of a washed and blocked swatch.  This swatch can be for any project!  We will cover : different types of cast ons and talk about where they are most useful; how to use stitch and row markers to keep track of your work; the importance of counting rows versus counting inches of knitting; we will work a swatch with different types of increases and decreases, discuss which ones are interchangeable, and which ones work best with different stitch patterns; how to check gauge in process; when and how to use selvedge stitches.  For those making a Custom Fit sweater, we will start your selected pattern!  If you plan to attend the next session, there will be homework!

11/25/17 Custom Fit #3 (1 – 4 pm)

This session is for anyone in the middle of a sweater project who may need questions answered or an enthusiasm bump to get started again.  We will measure work done so far; talk about common questions and problems in the middle stage; we will work a swatch that demonstrates how to pick up stitches along vertical, horizontal, and diagonal edges.  We will discuss different ways to make buttonholes and how to weave in ends.  If you plan to attend the next session, there will be homework!
